Fuchsia arborescens is an evergreen shrub favoured for its pretty flowers which are produced almost year-round. Large and showy clusters of lilac-pink flowers are borne throughout the shrub, and are great for attracting birds. It typically grows to 2.5 m tall and 2 m wide. Fuchsia arborescens is commonly included in a mixed planting, used as backdrop for smaller plants, added to a cottage garden, or planted to brighten a dull corner.

Tilia platyphyllos, commonly known as the Broad-Leaved European Lime, is grown for its impressively coloured foliage and tidy form. The glossy leaves emerge a fresh green colour in spring, age to become dark green, then develop golden tones in autumn before falling. It grows with a broad and rounded habit to about 20 m tall and 10 m wide. Tilia platyphyllos is commonly grown as a specimen or used in an avenue planting.
