Cornus 'Cherokee Chief' is a small, deciduous tree grown for its impressive flowering and attractive form. Masses of rose-red flowers are borne in spring just as the new foliage begins to emerge. The leaves emerge in spring heavily variegated with cream and green, then develop yellow tones in autumn before falling. It grows with an upright and somewhat narrow habit to about 20 m tall and 8 m wide, performing best when planted in full sun on a well-drained site with some shelter.
