Eucryphia cordifolia (Ulmo)
Commonly known as Ulmo, this is a handsome, evergreen tree renowned for both its attractive foliage and pleasant flowers. The sweetly fragrant flowers are white and are produced through summer. The foliage is silver-green with a leathery appearance. It can grow 20 m tall and 10 m wide but is often trimmed to sizes much less than this. Pine cones are produced when the tree is about six years old and within these cones are the edible nuts.
