“Best Red” is a small, deciduous tree, grown for its lovely flowers, foliage, and great form. The showy flowers are complemented with lush foliage which is a very dark red-purple, bordering on black. The foliage develops orange and red tones in autumn before falling. It grows with an upright habit to produce a compact and rounded crown as it reaches 3 m tall and 2 m wide, and can be trimmed as necessary. Best results with this Crepe Myrtle are achieved when it is planted in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site.
