Ficus macrophylla, commonly known as the Moreton Bay Ficus, is a large, evergreen tree that is grown for its foliage and beautiful, buttress roots. It bears dark green, glossy leaves and purple fruits in autumn which are great for attracting birds. It typically grows to 15 m tall and 10 m wide. The aggressive root system of Ficus macrophylla makes its use limited to large gardens only. Old specimens can reach tremendous size hence why it is widely used as a feature tree in public parks and gardens in warmer climates.

The Moreton Bay Fig is the common name for Ficus macrophylla, a large, evergreen tree that is grown for its foliage, fruits, and beautiful, buttress roots.
