How to grow Calluna 'Annabel'

Calluna ‘Annabel’ grows best in full sun and well-drained, acidic soil. Select a position with good airflow and avoid areas with heavy, waterlogged soils. Before planting, mix compost or peat into the soil to improve drainage and acidity. Water the plant regularly during dry spells, especially while it is establishing. Mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Prune lightly after flowering to maintain shape and promote bushy growth. Avoid harsh cutting into old wood. Ideal for low borders, containers, or mass planting.

Calluna ‘Annabel’ care tips

Plant in full sun with well-drained, acidic soil for best flowering. Water regularly during dry periods, particularly in the first year. Lightly trim after flowering to keep a tidy shape and encourage dense growth, but avoid cutting into old wood. Mulch with pine bark or peat to maintain soil acidity and moisture. Fertilise in spring with an acid-loving plant food. Protect from heavy frost when young and avoid overly wet winter conditions.
