Libertia peregrinans, commonly known as the NZ Iris, Creeping Iris, or Mikoiko, is a NZ native grown for its beautiful, white flowers and attractive foliage. The delicate looking flowers are produced through spring and summer and result in green seed capsules that mature to orange. The foliage on this Creeping Iris comprises orange-yellow leaves that are both stiff and erect. It grows as a clump to about to 50 cm tall and the same wide but will colonise a larger area in time with its spreading roots. Best performance with Mikoiko is achieved when it is positioned in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of coastal conditions, cool climates, frost, and a range of soil conditions.
