“Black Taffeta” is an herbaceous perennial grown for its gorgeous foliage. It has wavy edged, near black leaves. Flower spikes rise above the foliage in summer and may reach 60 cm tall bearing small, bell-shaped, pink flowers. It typically grows to 30 cm tall and 40 cm wide, performing best when planted on a well-drained, sheltered site in full sun or partial shade. It is tolerant of short periods of dry and in cold climates it may die back during winter to regrow again in spring. “Black Taffeta” is commonly used for adding colour, used to provide a colour contrast, included in borders or mixed plantings, added to cottage and tropical gardens, or planted around outdoor living areas such as pools and the like.
