Commonly known as Koromiko, this NZ native is quick growing, evergreen shrub featuring lovely foliage and showy flowers. Long spikes carrying small, white flowers with a touch of mauve are borne in summer and literally coat the plant. The flowers are complemented with long and lush, dark green leaves which are held somewhat densely on sprawling stems. It typically grows to 2 m tall and 1.5 m wide, performing best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It will not grow well in heavy shade but tolerates coastal conditions, dry periods, moderate frost, and heavy soils. This Hebe is commonly included in a mixed planting, grown as an informal hedge, planted around water features such as ponds and streams, or included in revegetation plantings.
