Ficus pumila, also known as the climbing fig or creeping fig, is a vigorous evergreen climber perfect for quickly covering walls, fences, and trellises. Its small, heart-shaped leaves create a dense, attractive covering, and it thrives in many parts of New Zealand, including cooler climates.
Fig Mrs Williams produces fruit with a purple-brown skin and amber-red flesh. The fruit are of large size and produced early season. It grows as a large, spreading tree and will bear fruit after 3-5 years. This deciduous tree carries large and deeply lobed, green leaves which develop yellow tones in autumn before falling as it reaches 4 m tall and 3 m wide. The Mrs Williams Fig tree is commonly grown for fruit production or as a specimen. It looks great in a mixed planting and is a good choice for attracting birds into the garden.
