This variegated variety of Aucuba is a colourful, evergreen shrub featuring glossy, dark green leaves with yellow spots. The foliage is complemented with clusters of small, dark purple flowers in spring which are followed by dark crimson-red berries in autumn. It grows as a densely with a rounded shape to about 2.5 m tall and the same wide, and can be trimmed as necessary. It grows best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained, sheltered site, and is tolerant of heavy shade, moderate frost, and dry periods, though young plants should be protected while they are establishing. This is a great plant for providing vibrant colour to a garden, for trimming into a hedge, or for providing winter interest. It is often planted around outdoor living areas to provide privacy and is great for brightening up a shaded area.
